Board of Directors

Elaine Bixby, President – Branch Administrator, Passumpsic Savings Bank.  Elaine began on the Advisory Board for JUMP.  After a successful first JUMP Jazz Jubilee, she moved to the Board of Directors as it seemed a natural progression to be involved in the organization and not just one program.  The goals she sees for NEKYS are an active working board supporting the work of the organization and sustainability of programs.

Carol Chmura, Vice President – Employment Manager, Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.  Carol feels being on the board would be a great opportunity to get to know the community better and help participate in community affairs.  She wants to help continue to raise funds for this much needed organization  and to be able to help the young adults within our community.

Kathleen Morey, Treasurer - Accounting Manager, Burke Mountain.  Kathleen wants to be more involved in her adopted community, and the mission of NEKYS to help young people is very dear to her heart.  She is very impressed with how NEKYS is run, and everything it accomplishes.

Jane Arthur, Donor Relations Committee - Executive Director, Karme Choling.  Jane is interested in engaging more with the community. She feels working with young people is a great place to make a difference.

Shawn Timson, Donor Relations Committee – Owner, Horizon’s Deli & Convenience, Inc.  Shawn has supported the Elm Street Youth Homeless Shelter since 2007 both through the Shelter Walk and through his own project of delivering Christmas Eve dinner to the residents.  He decided joining the board was the next logical step to be able to give even more.  His goals for NEKYS are to see the Shelter Walk grow into a much larger event, one in which the walk could support the bulk of the annual funding needed to run the shelter.  He would also like to see more exposure for both the Shelter and JUMP in the community.

Marti Walther, Donor Relations Committee – Retired, Co-owner/Operator of The Old Cutter Inn.  Marti has a strong interest in helping to improve the lives of disadvantaged young people in our community, especially through programs that help to provide them with the necessary tools to achieve and sustain their goals.  She wants to promote community awareness of potential ways one can volunteer support for NEKYS’ programs – not just financially, but also possibilities for donations of services and goods.
