Health Youth Initiative Grant

The Youth in Transition’s Caledonia/Southern Essex Regional Team was awarded funding for the community opportunity project entitled, “You Think You Know Us”.  The proposal was created and developed by the regional team consisting of 51% youth/young adults.  The ideas were generated by the youth/young adults and every development stage of the project directed by the creative youth/young adults.

The project seeks to inform the community on ways to de-stigmatize mental health issues and how to deliver services to youth/young adults in transition (ages 16-22).  “You Think You Know Us,” will travel to local community events such as Farmer’s Markets, local beaches, and one local fair using a “traveling booth.” This traveling booth will consist of the following: a tri-fold board that contains information about stigma of mental health issues, a model of adolescent brain development, and source cards about resources in the community. The young adults will also engage in interactive skits with each other to demonstrate how to deliver services to the youth/young adult population.

“You Think You Know Us” project invites you to attend one of the community events that it will be traveling to.
