 Volunteer Opportunities

JUMP Mentors

Enhance your life by getting involved with a young person.  Become a mentor for a child at school.  Share activities, play games, do projects, shoot hoops, explore computer resources, or just talk and have lunch.   It only takes one hour a week for a school year.

Elm Street Shelter

Do you have spare time in the evenings or weekends?  Interact with youth who are in transition at our homeless shelter.  Make an impact at a critical time in their lives.

Living Room

Would you like to be a positive role model to youth?  Share your skills, talents and experience at our day shelter.  Assist in supervising youth, engage in educational and recreational activities, and provide a caring and non-judgmental space.

Reparative Board/Panel

Want to be involved with reparative practices?  As a member of the Reparative Panel, you’ll have the opportunity to repair damage done to victims and the community.

Caledonia and Essex Counties Diversion Boards

How would you like to be part of a process that impacts on the lives of youth?  Board members meet once a month to review case summaries, interview diversion candidates, vote whether to accept a case and collectively discuss and decide mandates for each participant.

Shelter Homes Providers

Can you offer safe and stable housing for youth who need temporary respite from their home environment?  We are looking for neutral housing for youth during a family conflict.  Is yours available?

Events Coordination Committee

Are you interested in helping NEKYS plan community events?  This is an opportunity to connect with the community while increasing your organizing skills and having fun.

Receptionist

Does working in an office appeal to you?  Be the person who greets visitors, answer phones and provide clerical support to NEKYS.

Summer Central

As a volunteer, you will gather information about summer opportunities for youth in our community as well as seek funding for area businesses and community members to support scholarships so that youth may attend substance free, skill-building activities, workshops, and camps they might not otherwise afford.
