Introducing NEKYS’ New Street Outreach Program

NEKYS is proud to announce the launch of Street Outreach, a newly funded program designed to meet individuals exactly where they are—literally.

This Supportive Services Only – Street Outreach (SSO-SO) initiative focuses on people living in places not meant for human habitation, offering compassionate, consistent engagement and connection to essential resources.

Our Street Outreach team provides proactive field outreach, including day and night coverage, repeated engagement, and safety planning to build trust over time. Through close collaboration with Coordinated Entry (CE), we help ensure individuals are prioritized appropriately and connected to the supports they need.

The program emphasizes warm handoffs to critical services such as healthcare, behavioral health treatment, benefits assistance, identification recovery, employment supports, legal resources, and housing navigation. We are also committed to elevating lived experience by involving individuals with firsthand knowledge of homelessness in staffing, program design, and advisory roles.

The Street Outreach program is staffed by a multidisciplinary team, including Outreach Specialists, Navigators/Case Managers, Peer Specialists, a Program Manager, and a Data/HMIS Lead, working together to reduce barriers, strengthen relationships, and foster pathways toward stability and long-term housing.
